Fremd opens with win over Cary-Grove

Emily Klazek hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points Wednesday night to lead Fremd's girls basketball team to a 50-21 win over Cary-Grove in the Vikings' season opener.

Ruthie Montella added 11 points for Fremd in the Lake Zurich Turkey Thriller game, while freshman Brianna Wooldridge had 9 points.

"It was great to finally play someone other than ourselves," said Fremd coach Dave Yates. "I thought we got out to a great start and quickly established control of the game. We shot the ball well and did a nice job getting inside touches. I thought we defended well for a first game."
