Girls volleyball: Prospect advances to regional final

Prospect's girls volleyball team, seeded No. 10, posted a 25-17, 27-18 triumph over No. 7 Niles West on Tuesday night in their Wolves' own Class 4A regional semifinal in Skokie.

The Knights (19-18) will face No. 2 New Trier on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the title.

Emma Cogan (4 aces, 11 digs, 5 kills) helped lead the way for Prospect while teammates Grace Cacini and Sloane Petlak each had 3 kills. Sarah Skaggs handed out 12 assists with 8 digs.

Glenbrook South d. Palatine: No. 9 Glenbrook South posted a 25-18, 25-21 qin over the No. 8 Pirates (21-15), who were led on attack by Haley Holz (4 kills, 4 aces), Emily Campe (6 kills) and Sarah Elischer (5 kills). Allison Drake handed out 14 assists and Jillian Smith led with 16 digs. Karina Szafraniec collected 3 blocks.

York d. Maine West: No. 15 -seeded Maine West (19-18) lost in the Class 4A regional semifinal at Addison Trail to No. 2 seeded York 25-4, 25-11. Kaylin Johnson led West with 8 digs.

Loyola d. Conant: The No. 17-seeded Cougars (13-18) saw their season come to an end at the Schaumburg regional with a 25-13, 25-18 loss.
