Girls volleyball: Grayslake North survives Waukegan

Grayslake North's girls volleyball team showed a lot of resiliency in surviving Waukegan Monday night.

Waukegan came out strong and won the first game 25-13. And Grayslake North got down 14-4 in the second set. But Emily Porter served the next 9 points to bring the Knights back. The Knights then went on to win the game 25-22.

In the third set the Knights got down early 4-1 then pulled away and won the game 25-17 to advance to play Crystal Lake Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the Class 4A Libertyville regional.

Grayslake North was led by Lexie Baker and Jessica Pozezinski with 16 and 14 digs respectively.

Setters Abby Cunningham and Lindsey Deip had 12 and 10 assists respectively.

Pozezenski had 8 kills and Alyssa Gerzel had 7 kills for the Knights, who are now 18-18 on the season.

Lake Zurich d. Grant: At Stevenson, Lake Zurich swept Grant, 25-9, 25-20.

Lake Zurich advances to play host Stevenson on Tuesday.

McHenry d. Wauconda: At Marian Central, McHenry swept Wauconda, 25-20, 25-20.

Marian Central d. Round Lake: Also at Marian Central, the hosts survived Round Lake, 25-14, 24-26, 25-9.

Crystal Lake South d. Vernon Hills: Crystal Lake South swept Vernon Hills, 26-24, 25-20.
