Boys soccer: Ruiz's goal lifts Wauconda in regional semifinal

Ulysses Ruiz scored at the 11:30 mark in overtime, lifting Wauconda's boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Grayslake North in the Class 2A Antioch regional semifinals Wednesday night.

Chase Hayden tallied in the 71st minute to tie the score for No. 4 Wauconda, which advances to Friday's 4:30 p.m. final against top-seeded Crystal Lake South.

No. 5 Grayslake North got a goal from Matthew Heery in the 16th minute.

Crystal Lake South 3, Grayslake Central 0: At Antioch, the top-seeded Gators got goals from Alex Canfield in the first half and Brad Grabowski and Sabien Raymond in the second half of the Class 2A regional semifinal.

Crystal Lake South will play No. 4 Wauconda for the regional championship at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

No. 8 Grayslake Central finishes the season with a 5-14-2 record.
