Girls volleyball: Stevenson tops Palatine; Mundelein nets 20th win

Sophie Sorenson slammed 7 kills, Molly Bourbon served 3 aces, and Stevenson's girls volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 25-20, 25-18 win over visiting Palatine in nonconference action Monday night.

Annie Armgardt and Lily Cozzi added 4 kills apiece for the Patriots (22-11). Grace Tully set 43 of 44 with 15 assists, while also contributing 2 aces. Abby Keevins had 11 digs and 2 aces for Stevenson.

Mundelein d. Grant: Alexis Naddy had 7 kills, and the host Mustangs won the nonconference match 25-12, 25-19 to reach 20 wins for the first time since 2011.

Mundelein (20-14) also received contributions from Brianna Martin (4 kills), Faith Krabbe (24-of-24 setting with 9 assists, 3 blocks, 2 kills), Isabella Cartland (2 kills, 2 aces), Claudia Wilcox (18-of-18 setting with 5 assists) and Thea Vogt (2 kills).

Carmel d. Libertyville: Annie Bart had 7 kills, Mya Mainzer and Eileen Tarcha added six apiece, and the Corsairs won 25-19, 25-12 in nonconference action to spoil the Wildcats' Senior Night.

Mainzer added 4 blocks and 3 aces, while Milana Moisio notched 16 digs for Carmel (19-15). The Corsairs' other contributors included Riley Clark (2 kills), Kaitlyn Donton (13 assists), Tayah Farris (4 kills, 2 blocks), Jolina Moisio (8 digs) and Patti Needham (10 assists).

Carmel has won seven of its last 10 matches.

"Our team has made some great strides the last couple of weeks and now it is starting to show on the court," Corsairs coach David Pazely said.

Maine West d. Vernon Hills: The Warriors won 23-25, 25-17, 25-15 to improve to 17-17 and 5-4 in Central Suburban League North Division.

Reilly Olson had 11 kills and 4 aces for Maine West.
