Girls volleyball: Grayslake North sets school record for wins

Grayslake North's girls volleyball team hosted the Knights Invite Saturday and finished third, but by getting its 17th win on the season, Grayslake North now has the most wins in a season in school history.

The Knights were led by Alyssa Gerzel with 26 kills, Jessica Pozezinski with 17 kills and Emma Hochstein with 15 kills.

Setters Lindsey Deip had 43 assists and Abby Cunningham had 34 assists.

Emmy Bongiovanni had 9 blocks, Gerzel had 8 blocks and Hochstein had 7 blocks.

Lexie Baker led the defense with 71 digs.

Grayslake North is now 17-17 overall.

Also at Grayslake North, Mundelein made a run all the way to the tournament championship game, falling to Fremd, 25-21, 25-18.

Along the way, Mundelein defeated Ridgewood and Niles North and Grayslake North.

For the tournament, Alexis Naddy finished with 36 kills, while Brianna Martin added 19 kills and Taylor Heath had 15 kills.

Martin also tallied 6 blocks.

Hana Fakhoury had 62 digs while setters Faith Krabbe and Claudia Wilcox finished with 46 and 27 assists respectively.

Mundelein is now 19-14 on the season.

Plainfield Fall Harvest: Stevenson took second place in the silver bracket of the Plainfield Fall Harvest Invite.

The Patriots defeated Marian Central (25-16, 25-17), Resurrection (19-25, 25-13, 25-23) and Chicago Christian (25-15, 25-18).

Sophie Sorenson topped Stevenson with 40 kills for the tournament while setter Grace Tully had 91 assists.
