Girls volleyball: Mundelein, Naddy knock off Grayslake Central

Alexis Naddy slammed 9 kills, and Mundelein's girls volleyball team picked up a quality win Tuesday night, beating 20-match winner Grayslake Central 25-19, 25-17 in nonconference action.

Taylor Heath and Isabella Cartland added 5 and 4 kills, respectively, for Mundelein (16-11), while Faith Krabbe contributed 10 assists on 31-of-31 setting, 3 kills and 2 blocks. Brianna Martin had 3 kills and 2 blocks, Maggie O'Donnell notched 9 digs, and Claudia Wilcox set 22 of 24 with 6 assists.

Grayslake Central (20-13) was led by Cassidy Beshel (7 kills), Kate Bullman (6 blocks, 2 kills, 1 ace) and Elisa Koshy (17 assists, 3 kills, 3 blocks). The Rams also received contributions from Amber Moser (7 digs, 1 ace) and Emily Friday (2 kills, 2 blocks).

Grayslake North d. Waukegan: Alyssa Gerzel had 10 kills, and the visiting Knights continued their winning ways, as they captured a 25-6 25-21 decision in nonconference action.

The Knights took early control of the first set on Jessica Pozezinski and Teagan Johnston's serving and Alyssa Gerzel's kills. Set 2 was tied 17-17 when Grayslake North (13-15) ran off 4 straight points. The Knights were led by Gerzel, Johnston and Pozezinski with 4 aces, Lindsey Deip and Abby Cunningham with 10 assists each, and Emma Hochstein with 2 blocks.

Knights have won three matches in a row.

Glenbrook North d. Wauconda: The visiting Bulldogs fell 25-23, 15-25, 25-18 in nonconference action, despite Erika Kraml's 7 kills and 13 digs and Savannah Johnson's 5 kills, 4 aces and 6 assists.

Wauconda (8-23) also received 3 aces and 19 digs from Raquel Acosta, 2 blocks and 2 kills from Tara Bierdz and 8 assists from Riley Aldrich.

Grant d. Highland Park: Megan Mitchell had 12 kills, and the host Bulldogs won 25-15, 25-16 in a nonconference match.

Grant's other contributors included Laine Evans (4 aces, 3 kills, 11 digs), Jazzlyn Linbo (5 kill, 1 block) and Anelise Johnson (2 blocks).

Nazareth d. Carmel: The visiting Corsairs lost 25-19, 25-17 in East Suburban Catholic Conference action.
