Boys soccer: Libertyville clinches NSC title

Evan Rasmussen scored twice, and Libertyville's boys soccer team clinched the North Suburban Conference championship by beating Lake Forest 4-1 on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (14-0, 6-0) also got goals from Patrick Graham and Kevin Aquadro.

Grayslake North 2, Lakes 1: Will Meyer scored with less than 30 seconds left in the second half, as the Knights earned a share of the Northern Lake County Conference championship.

Both Grayslake North (8-4-1) and Round Lake finished 5-1-1 in the NLCC.

"Our boys put in a great, complete team effort," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said.

Meyer set up Robert Santiago's first-half goal, before Lakes (8-4-4, 4-1-2) pulled even on a goal by Evan Larsen on an assist from Andrew Gaetano.

With time running down in regulation, Grayslake North defender Gabe Vallejo played the ball to the feet of Meyer, who took a touch and buried his chance into the far corner of the goal.

"Congratulations to the Knights as their aggressive play had us unsettled, but we had plenty of chances to score and sometimes a game like this doesn't go your way," Lakes coach Kevin Kullby said. "I thought our team's effort was great. Now we'll get ready for the playoffs."

Stevenson 3, Warren 0: The Patriots got a goal and 2 assists from Anthony Skoridiks in the opening half of the North Suburban Conference match.

Evan Paldrmic and Ethan Bende also scored for Stevenson (9-3-1, 4-2).

Warren (5-5-4, 0-3-3) was shut out for the third game in a row.

Grayslake Central 3, Grant 1: Dani Orozco's hat trick hiked his season-goal total to eight, as the Rams won the Northern Lake County Conference finale.

Tyler Kalata, Henry Morrison and Tyler Armstrong had assists for Grayslake Central (4-12-2, 3-3-1). After a 1-9 start, the Rams have gone 3-3-2 in the last eight games.

"We're picking up steam lately," coach Tom Hamilton said. "Every player is starting to believe in himself and each other, and we've been creating more chances these last few games. We're proud of the progress so far but hungry for more, so we'll look to build on this as we prepare for playoffs."

Grant got its goal from Jose Luna on a penalty kick.
