Girls volleyball: Barrington takes share of MSL West lead

Playing at home on Thursday night, Barrington's girls volleyball team found a new home in the Mid-Suburban League West standings.

The Fillies now share first place with Fremd after avenging an earlier loss to the Vikings.

Led by Peyton's Tilley's 12 kills and 5 from Bailey Madrzyk, Barrington got past Fremd 25-17, 25- 22 to raise its record to 12-8 and 5-1.

The Vikings, who won the first meeting between the two teams 18-25, 25-18, 25-14, are now 15-5 and 4-1.

As usual, seniors Tara Kozak (111 assists) and Sabrina Loutos directed the Fillies' attack while Noelle Dahler added 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Other top performers for the hosts were Paige Ramel (1 block, 1 kill), Ola Magiera (2 kills), Lauren Carder (9 points, 2 aces), Arianna Armando (4 digs, 2 aces, 7 points) and Mia Ruffolo (9 digs, 2 points).

Heidi Sayre (8 kills, 3 digs), Breslin Reid (4 kills, 2 aces) and Peyton Hooker (4 kills, 5 digs) led the Fremd offense which was set by Lydia Vander Ark (11 assists) and Rian Baker (8). Maddie Aichinger (2 aces) led the back row with 9 digs.

Rolling Meadows d. Elk Grove: Visiting Rolling Meadows (12-13, 3-3) posted a 25-11, 25-17 win as Natalie Klancnik served 4 aces and handed out 18 assists.

Top attackers were Eleanor Errico (8 kills), Elise Kowalski (6 kills) and Ashlyn Ryan (4 kills). Sophia Salemo led the back row with 6 digs.

Kaitlyn Ingebrigtsen led the offense for the Grens (1-18, 0-6) while Megan Murray led with 6 blocks.

Palatine d. Conant: Haley Holz put down 13 kills with 8 digs and 3 aces as host Palatine raised its record to 13-8 and 3-3 in the MSL West with a 27-25, 25-22 win. Karina Szafraniec added 8 kills and Sydney Wiebe 3 for the offense set by sophomore Allison Drake (23 assists, 8 digs). Sarah Elsicher chipped in 2 blocks and Jillian Smith led with 14 digs and 10-of-12 serve receiving.

Yuri Hara (5 kills, 14 digs) and Fiona Fennelly (13 assists) led the Cougars (8-11, 2-4).

Prospect d. Wheeling: Senior night was a winning night for Prospect (12-9, 3-3) which posted a 25-14, 25-9 win.

Sarah Skaggs served 3 aces with 4 assists and 5 digs while Gianna Russo also handed out 4 assists.

Emma Cogan (6 kills), Sloane Petlak (5) Annie Wiley (4) and Elizabeth Abraham (2) led the attack against the visiting Wildcats (11-14, 2-4).

Schaumburg d. Hoffman: The visiting Saxons raised their record to 9-10 and 4-2 in the MSL West with the 25-21, 20-25, 25-21 win over Hoffman (1-13, 0-6) which was led on attack Patrica Wadfas (11 kills) and Niyah McAllister (9). Ashley Poland led the defense with 17 digs.

Maine West d. Maine East: The host Warriors earned a 25-21, 25-14 triumph in the CSL North as Ally Block (14 assists, 4 aces) Reilly Olson (7 kills), Yesenia Santiago (3 aces) and Kaylin Johnson (7 digs) helped lead the way.

Harper d. Triton: No. 8 Harper posted a 25-9, 25-11, 25-13 triumph. "It was a nice win, said Harper coach Bob Visloet. "Everybody on the roster was able to play in this match." The Hawks face No. 7 Rock Valley on Tuesday.
