Girls golf: Benet takes ESCC title
Lauren Beaudreau fired a 70 to earn medalist honors, helping Benet Academy win the East Suburban Catholic Conference girls golf championship at Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan on Monday.
Benet shot a 327 to comfortably outdistance runner-up Marist (355). St. Viator (357), led by runner-up Cate Reisinger (76), settled for third, and host Carmel Catholic (378) was fourth in the seven-team field.
Beaudreau and Reisinger were the only golfers to break 80. The top five also included Benet's Reagan Rodenbostel (third, 81) and Caroline Wing (fourth, 82), and Carmel's Maria Stephens (fifth, 83). St. Viator's Caroline Lavender (sixth) also had an 83.
Benet received medal-winning rounds from Tess Jacobs (15th, 94) and Missy Oei (16th, 94), as well.
Carmel's Sydney Faerber finished 11th with an 89.
Mundelein triangular: On Saturday, at Brae Loch Golf Club, the host Mustangs shot a winning to 407 to defeat Johnsburg (430) and Niles West (473).
Mundelein freshman Kellie Shanahan earned medalist honors with an 89. Her teammate and fellow freshman Maddy Forster shot a 92 to tie for second place with Johnsburg's Ceara Mulvey.
