At a glance:

The two teams waited out 11 hours of rain delays this past weekend in Washington. The Nationals won two of the three games played, and the season series is tied at 3-3. Ross had his Sept. 7 outing against the Cubs cut short by rainout. He threw 24 pitches in his first attempt back from Tommy John surgery. The Nats' season has been pretty much a lost one. Bryce Harper entered Wednesday with a line of .249/.390/.503 with 32 homers and 92 RBI. Montgomery will make hs 16th start of the season, tying his career high, set in 2015. The Cubs are in a stretch of 30 straight scheduled game days. Their next scheduled off-day is Sept. 20.
