Girls volleyball: Lakes downs Grayslake Central
Devinn Bell rang up 5 kills, 9 assists and 5 digs, and Lakes' girls volleyball team defeated Grayslake Central 25-17, 25-23 in a Northern Lake County Conference showdown Thursday night.
Keelan Bell added 6 kills and 2 blocks for Lakes (7-4, 2-0). The Eagles also got contributions from Ashley Smith (3 kills, 3 aces), Paule Ceneac (3 kills, 3 blocks), Abby Vanderwall (5 digs), Kelli Rettig (4 kills, 9 digs), Faith Conway (10 assists, 6 digs) and Sara Smith (2 kills).
Cassidy Beshel pounded 10 kills for Grayslake Central (14-9, 1-1). The Rams also received 3 kills apiece from Amber Moser (1 ace) and Elisa Koshy (4 aces, 16 assists). Abby Marassa and Maya Schnitzler had 14 and 8 digs, respectively, and Taylor Hindman contributed 2 kills.
Grayslake North d. Wauconda: The Knights won a Northern Lake County thriller, rallying to capture a 20-25, 25-21, 27-25 decision.
Grayslake North overcame deficits of 5-0, 18-11 and 24-21 in the final set.
The Knights were led by Lexie Baker with 32 digs, Abby Cunningham and Lindsey Diep with 14 and 10 assists, respectively, and Jessica Pozezenski and Alyssa Gerzel with 8 kills each. Teagan Johnston had 4 kills, and Taylor Ebersohl notched 3 block kills.
Wauconda (4-12, 1-1) got 7 kills, 11 assists and 10 digs from Savannah Johnson, while Emily Johnson had 6 kills. The Bulldogs' other contributors included Erika Kraml (5 kills, 14 digs, 3 aces), Raquel Acosta (21 digs, 5 assists, 2 aces) and Riley Aldrich (6 kills, 8 digs, 7 assists, 3 aces).
Antioch d. North Chicago: The host Sequoits won 25-12, 25-11 on Northern Lake County action, as Cenie Friesen delivered 7 kills and 6 aces.
Antioch (10-2-1, 2-0) was also led by Grace Weber (5 kills, 7 aces), Katie Vilardi (5 aces, 12 assists) and Lilly Regnier (5 kills).
Grant d. Round Lake: Jazzlyn Linbo had 7 kills, and the Bulldogs won 25-13, 25-18 in Northern Lake County action.
Megan Mitchell added 3 aces, 5 kills and 2 digs for Grant, while Laine Evans had 2 aces, 3 kills and 4 digs. The Bulldogs also got 10 digs from Courtney Levy.
