Glenbard West gets a rush out of win
Glenbard West and Addison Trail combined for 76 run plays and 446 rushing yards.

The grass surface was torn to shreds because of the recent rains, but that didn't slow the Hilltoppers while plowing to Saturday's 27-0 football victory over Addison Trail in their home opener in Glen Ellyn.
Three running backs - Tyquan Cox, Joey Richmond and Nick Seifert - did the bulk of the damage behind a physical Hilltoppers offensive line. That trio had 29 carries and 249 yards.
After taking a 7-0 first-quarter lead on a 1-yard dive by Cox, who rushed for 100 yards, Glenbard West (2-1) added 3 second-quarter touchdowns on a 20-yard run by Richmond, a 12-yard run by Cox and a 17-yard pass from Tommy Bleker to Cox.
"We just tried to hit the holes outside today and that seemed to work," said Richmond, who had 7 carries for 85 yards in the West Suburban Conference crossover game. "It seemed like we had a good pace going. We're doing pretty good right now, but we've got to get much better from this week to next week."
Addison Trail (0-3) matched the Hilltoppers' physicality and enjoyed its own moments moving the ball on the ground. J'Lan Williams was a workhorse while rushing for 110 yards on 28 carries.
The problem was getting in the end zone. Interceptions ended two drives and a failed fourth-down conversion stopped another.
The game ended with the Blazers at Glenbard West's 16-yard line.
"We competed," said Blazers coach Paul Parpet, whose team faces West Suburban Gold rival Willowbrook next week. "We went toe-to-toe. I thought we moved the ball consistently, but we never got it across that line that matters. That's what we have to figure out. We have to figure out a way to finish the drive."
Glenbard West enters WSC Silver play next week against surging York (2-1), which has claimed two straight shutout victories.
"We'll find out Friday night in Elmhurst," said Hilltoppers coach Chad Hetlet. "York is a very good team and playing good football. We'll find out exactly where we're at."
