Girls volleyball: Dundee-Crown wins 1st game

Dundee Crown's girls volleyball team went 1-3 Saturday at the West Chicago tournament.

The Chargers lost to St. Viator 18-25, 22-25, lost to Plainfield South 13-25, 12-25, lost to Bartlett 20-25, 21-25, and defeated Elgin 25-16, 25-23 for their first win of the season.

Leaders for Dundee-Crown (1-9) included Makena Wesol (14 kills, 1 block), Olivia Miller (13 kills, 5 aces, 22 digs), MacKenzie Field (10 kills, 2 aces, 6 blocks), Alyssa Crenshaw (8 kills, 2 blocks), Payton Schmidt (7 kills, 5 aces, 18 digs), Hannah Krispin (5 kills, 2 blocks), Jenna Brown (53 assists, 4 aces, 12 digs, 3 blocks), Natalia Smiech (31 digs) and Erica Sanchez (12 digs).

Sandwich Tournament: Aurora Central Catholic (8-11) won the consolation bracket.

In an 18-21, 21-19, 15-11 win over Reed Custer, Megan Anderson served 3 aces, Jessica Estrada had 9 kills and Kaitlyn Catich 7, Kyra Grainger led with 10 digs, and Anderson set 29 assists.
