Boys soccer: Nelson scores twice in St. Charles East's win

Nick Nelson scored a pair of goals leading St. Charles East's boys soccer team to a 4-1 win over Bartlett on Saturday.

The Saints led 2-0 at halftime. Sebastian Carranza scored the first goal unassisted followed by a Nelson goal assisted by Ryan Gerkin.

Renato Avendano scored the Saints' third goal on an assist from Truitt Battin.

Nelson scored St. Charles East's final goal assisted by Renato Avendano.

Zachary Doerr made 4 saves and Jack Settle had 1 save. St. Charles East improved to 5-3.

Streamwood 4. Addison Trail 1: The Sabres (6-1) got goals from four different players and advanced to the quarterfinals Tuesday to play Morton in the PepsiCo tournament.

Jesus Limon got the Sabres on the board with a penalty kick. Rolando Martinez scored the next goal on Mike Rubio's assist.

Alex Chavez and Jorge Bracamontes scored in the second half. Bryan Mora had an assist, and Bracamontes scored on a free kick.

Hector Alfaro made 4 saves.

Crystal Lake South 2, St. Ignatius 0: The Gators (7-0-1) advanced to play Wheaton Academy on Tuesday in the PepsiCo tournament Army Bracket.

Andrew Edge and Garett Schneider scored the goals for the Gators, and Matt McCaleb made 2 saves.

St. Ignatius drops to 4-2.

St. Edward 2, Bulls College Prep 2: The Wave scored early to take a 1-0 lead, then added a second goal halfway through the second half, only to see Bulls College Prep net two in the final 10 minutes to force a shootout.

In the shootout, Evan Sajtar made two saves while Uriel Carahure, Jackson Godfrey, Josh Johansen, Chase Brieger and Carlos Ibarra all scored for St. Edward (7-1-1).

Johansen scored both St. Edward goals in regulation, one assisted by Zach Olenek and the other by Godfrey.

Fenwick 2, Huntley 1: Justin Kornas scored the Red Raiders' goal on an assist from Josh Guyer in the 79th minute. Ethan Kornas and Lucas Clemetsen both made 3 saves for Huntley (0-7).
