Girls golf: Barrington, Prospect roll to MSL wins

The Mid-Suburban League girls golf season got underway on Tuesday afternoon and the East and West divisional favorites each pulled out their first two wins.

Defending MSL champion Barrington (145) got past Wheeling (203) and Rolling Meadows (203) at the Chevy Chase Golf Course in Wheeling while Prospect (158) topped Elk Grove (189) and Hersey (207) at the Fox Run Golf Links in Elk Grove.

Leading the Fillies was junior Carolyn Smith, who shot a 2-under par 34 to share medalist honors with Wheeling's Symantha Rohwedder.

Also under par for Barrington was Nicole Ciskowski (35) while Sophia Sulkar shot an even-par 36 followed by teammate Phebe Chen (40).

Adrienne Rohwedder (38) compiled the second best score for the Wildcats followed by Elena Falkiner (51).

Natalie Anderson (45) recorded the top score for Meadows followed Mallory Brand (49), Jesica Perns (54) and Ashley Kubel (55).

Prospect takes two: Leading Prospect at its tri-meet were co-medalists Kelly Kavanagh and Emily Fleming who each shot 2-over 37s. Amanda Stein (41) and Taylor DiPrima (430 were the other two scores for the Knights.

EG was led by Teodora Evtimora (43), Reyno Shino (46), Maragret Cronin (47) and Anna Sprenger (53).

Top scorers for Hersey were Renae Curtis ( (49), Sydney Ohr (52), Kathy Costello (53) and Sarah Eberk (53).

Buffalo Grove take two: The Bison (210) were led by Alisa Patek (51), Claire McLoone (52), Kelly Allaire (53) and Zoe Childs (54) on their own Buffalo Grove Golf Course.

Palatine (219), which edged Schaumburg (220) for second, was paced Victoria Simons (51) and Amanda Mirczuk (51) while top scores for Schaumburg were medalist Tatiana Cooper (48) and Lauren Christians (55).
