Bulls promote Blakeney to NBA roster
The Bulls officially signed shooting guard Antonio Blakeney to their NBA roster on Thursday.
The 6-foot-4 Blakeney was the Bulls' first two-way player last season, a new idea for the NBA where players could split time between an NBA roster and the team's G-League affiliate.
In 32 games for the Windy City Bulls last season, Blakeney led the G-League in scoring at 32.0 points per game and was named the league's rookie of the year. He played 19 games with the Bulls last year and averaged 7.9 points.
Blakeney, who went undrafted after two years at LSU, originally signed a two-year, two-way contract. But the Bulls decided to give him a promotion after he showed off his "instant offense" scoring skills again at summer league.
Blakeney gives the Bulls 14 players under contract for next season. His new deal is believed to be for the minimum salary of $1.416 million.
