Scouting the Fire:

The Fire (6-7-5, 23 points) gets center back Johan Kappelhof back from a two-game suspension if he is OK after being involved in an auto accident Thursday. This is the first of five matches over 15 days, including a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal. The Fire is unbeaten in its last five MLS matches mainly because Aleksandar Katai has 6 goals in his last seven matches.

Scouting Vancouver:

The Whitecaps (6-7-5, 23 points) have a couple of things in common with the Fire, including record and occupying sixth place in its conference standings, just good enough for a playoff spot. The Whitecaps report they are nearing a sellout crowd for the match. Kei Kamara and Cristian Techera lead the 'Caps with 6 goals, and all-star Alphonso Davies, a speedy 17-year-old, has 7 assists.
