Boys track and field: Marmion's Groom a 4-event winner at sectional

Marmion senior Seth Groom won four events Friday night, leading the Cadets to the team championship at the Class 2A Genoa-Kingston boys track and field sectional.

Groom took home top honors in the long jump (22 feet, 4 inches), the high jump (6-3), the triple jump (46-8.25) and the 200-meter dash (22.41).

The Cadets scored 96 points to edge Dixon (91) for the sectional title. Sterling (75) was third and Burlington Central (64) fourth.

Marmion also qualified its 3,200 relay team, which finished second. Additionally, Cadet sophomore Andrew Sologa won the pole vault (13-2). Senior Sean Galle advanced in the 3,200 run (4th), sophomore Anthony Zangler will compete at state in the 800 (2nd) and senior Michael Ronzone in the 1,600 (2nd).

Burlington Central won the 800 (1:31.09) and 1,600 (3:23.42) relays and also made state time in the 3,200 relay.

Also advancing for the Rockets were Michael Kalusa in the long jump (2nd), Patrick Mayfield in the high jump (2nd) and Connor Wagner in the 300 hurdles (3rd).
