Gold Cup coming back to Chicago

Chicago's Soldier Field again will be a host to games in the 2019 Gold Cup international soccer tournament.

Soldier Field in the past hosted the 2007 and 2013 finals, the 2009 semifinal and 2015 group play matches. It's not yet known what games Soldier Field will host in 2019.

The Gold Cup is held every two years and is the national-team championship for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

"We're thrilled to once again welcome CONCACAF, the teams and their fans to Chicago," said Kara Bachman, executive director of the Chicago Sports Commission. "With a strong track record of hosting sold-out international soccer events, the 2019 Gold Cup will be another showcase of the great sport of soccer in Chicago, a city which demonstrates much passion for the game."
