Baseball: Libertyville powers past Stevenson
Ben Arnold homered, Luke Plunkett had 2 doubles and 3 RBI, and Libertyville's baseball team remained perfect in the North Suburban Conference with a 14-2 win over visiting Stevenson on Wednesday.
Andrew Kim had a triple and 4 RBI for the Wildcats, who improved to 16-3 and 11-0 in the NSC. Tommy Rigali had a double, and Colin Fields pitched 4 innings for the win, striking out four and walking one.
Stevenson fell to 10-9-1 and 6-6 in the NSC.
Warren 3, Mundelein 1: Riley Kocen went the distance on the mound, allowing 4 hits and striking out five, and the Blue Devils avenged Tuesday's loss in North Suburban Conference action.
Bradley Vondruska was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Warren (12-6, 6-5), and Evan Hill doubled.
Ryan Patel was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Mundelein (13-5, 9-3). T.J. Yakimisky had a double.
Grayslake North 4, Wauconda 1: Sebastian Sancen allowed 1 run and 5 hits over 6 innings, striking out two and walking one, and the Knights won in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Jason Donohue and Ray Shoemaker each had a pair of hits for Grayslake North (8-9-1, 4-4). Jimmy Straten pitched the seventh for the save.
Danny Sperling was 2-for-3 for Wauconda, and Jake Harmon had a double and an RBI.
Lakes 14, Round Lake 4: The Eagles scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning and won the Northern Lake County Conference game in five innings.
Quinn McQuade was 2-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI for Lakes, and E.J. Roncone went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jeffrey Nielsen had a double and 2 RBI.
Round Lake got a double and an RBI from Lennard Pureza.
Grant 12, Hampshire 2: Jimmy Friel (2 RBI) and Danny Laughery each had 2 hits, and the Bulldogs won the nonconference game to improve to 15-2.
Henry Kusiak added a double for Grant, and Mason Sekulich earned the win.
