Softball: Geneva, St. Charles East post UEC wins

Ali Dierks allowed 6 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks Tuesday as Geneva's softball team defeated Streamwood 4-2 in an Upstate Eight River game.

Kate Geary had 2 hits with a double for the Vikings (13-3, 7-1) while Katie Keller added a double and 3 RBI.

Leandra Gottschalk had 2 hits and Hannah Jenig added a double for Streamwood (5-9, 3-5). Taylyr Crocilla suffered the loss, allowing 7 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

St. Charles East 18, Larkin 0: Maddie Candre went 5-for-5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI and Paige Ligocki blasted a grand slam home run to lead the Saints (12-4, 6-1) to a UEC River win. Also producing for SCE were Elliott Sanders (2 hits), Hannah Cozzi (2 hits, RBI), Madelyn Rouse (3-run HR), Maddy Stout (4 hits, 2 doubles, RBI), Brooke Byas (3 hits) and Kati Gheorghe (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI). Rouse was the winning pitcher allowing 6 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. Liz Bowman, Kathy Garcia and Haley Bohne (2B) each had 2 hits for Larkin (3-11, 2-6).

Burlington Central 12, Johnsburg 0: Reili Gardner (3 hits, 2B, RBI) led the BC offense in this Kishwaukee River win. Also contributing for the Rockets (9-4, 4-1) were Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, RBI), Lindsay Jamrozek (2 RBI), Sarah Schmitt (2 doubles, RBI), Abby Sanders (2 RBI) and Peyton Curtis (2 RBI). Julia Barnes (2 RBI) picked up the win, allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks in 4 innings.

Kaneland 9, DeKalb 5: Emilee Erickson struck out 11 while allowing just 5 hits and Rose Roach had 3 hits to lead Kaneland (11-3, 4-0) to a Northern Illinois Big XII East win.

Glenbard South 5, ACC 3: Sammy Martinez had a triple and an RBI and Alehi Velazquez added a double for Aurora Central in its Metro Suburban loss. Dani Brown suffered the loss for the Chargers (15-5, 2-2) despite allowing just 2 earned runs and 4 hits. She struck out 11 and walked 4.
