Softball: Late run lifts Huntley over St. Charles East

Huntley scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie and another in the bottom of the seventh to win in a 3-2 victory over St. Charles East on Saturday at Ottawa.

Brianne Bower (1-0) earned the win with three scoreless innings, and Tiffany Giese went 2-for-4 with a double. Autumn Kasal also had 2 hits.

Alexandra Wooten led the Saints (11-4) with 2 hits. Madelyn Rouse took the loss.

Huntley (11-2) also played host Ottawa, losing 5-4 when Ottawa scored in the bottom of the seventh. Giese went 4-for-4 with 4 stolen bases, and Sofia Tenuta and Taylor Zielinski both had 2 hits.

The Saints also played Ottawa and lost 1-0. Katie Arrambide took the loss.

At Rolling Meadows: Geneva (11-3) won the consolation championship with a 13-1 win over Rolling Meadows.

Emily Viebrock earned the win. Katie Keller tripled and doubled, and Ali Dierks, Katie Geary and Annilyse Bragg all had doubles.

Earlier, Geneva defeated Whitney Young 7-2 in the consolation semifinals. Dierks homered, tripled and recorded the win, and Katie Keller and Sam Keller both doubled.

Batavia 10, Hoffman Estates 4: The Bulldogs (6-8) got 2 hits each from Jaelen Lisberg, Kaylan Waldron, Peyton Sachse and Cassidy Carby in the nonconference win. Lisberg drove in 3 runs, and Noelle Chaney earned the win with 8 strikeouts while allowing 2 earned runs in the complete game.

Harlem 8, Burlington Central 4: Peyton Curtis and Reili Gardner both had 2 hits for the Rockets (7-4), and Danielle Yurgil drove in a pair of runs.

Aurora Central Catholic 8, Plano 6: Izzy Hernandez had 3 hits at the plate while pitching all 7 innings helping the Chargers improve to 10-5. Isabel Gonzalez drove in 3 runs for Aurora Central and Ava Wilkins knocked in 2.

At Woodstock Tournament: Crystal Lake South defeated Woodstock 14-4, Johnsburg 18-2 and Portage 12-0 at the Woodstock tournament.

Emily Sulikowski slammed a home run in all three games for the Gators. Madelynn Bush also homered in the win over Johnsburg, and Baylee Kassel hit one against Portage. Christina Toniolo earned two victories on the day and Alyssa Niketopoulos the other.

Bartlett splits: The Hawks lost 9-1 to Lake Park and earned a 17-8 victory.
