Baseball: Malmberg pitches Grant past Lakes

Nick Malmberg allowed 2 runs in 6⅔ innings, striking out seven, and Grant's baseball team beat Lakes 3-2 on Friday to remain undefeated in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Chase Maifield picked up the save with just 3 pitches. Mikal Ashley and Henry Kusiak (2-for-4) had two-out RBI for Grant (13-2, 7-0).

Quinn McQuade was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI for Lakes, and Joe Glassey gave up 3 runs in 6⅔ innings.

Lake Forest 4, Stevenson 3: The Scouts walked off a winner in the bottom of the seventh to win the North Suburban Conference game, after the Patriots scored twice in the top of the inning to pull even.

Jack Housinger was 2-for-3 for Stevenson (8-6-1, 4-3), and Isaiah Hart went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. The Patriots got triple from Evan Kiah and doubles from Nick Bonk and Hayden Brotz.

Mundelein 13, Waukegan 1: Steven Sanchez was 3-for-3 with a homer, triple, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored, as the Mustangs won the North Suburban Conference game in five innings.

Mundelein got 2 hits apiece from Drew Brietenreiter, Ryan Patel (triple, 3 runs), Jeff Morton (double, 2 RBI) and Jared Dorfman (2 RBI).

Austin Greco allowed 1 run in 3 innings and earned the win.

Libertyville 3, Warren 1: Tommy Rigali was 4-for-4 from the leadoff spot for the Wildcats in the North Suburban Conference game.

Libertyville (11-3, 6-0) broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh.

Mikey Kocen was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Warren (7-5, 2-4).

Antioch 9, Round Lake 3: Colin Wieska led the Sequoits to the Northern Lake County Conference win, going 3-for-4 with a double.

Austin Andrews was 2-for-3, Peter Gross was 2-for-4, and Jack Gillespie and Vince Roszkowiak also had doubles for Antioch.

Wauconda 10, Woodstock North 6: Brock Glavey was 3-for-4 with a home run, and the Bulldogs won in nonconference action.

Brett Winkel 2 RBI) and Anthony Bonk (RBI) were both 2-for-2 for Wauconda, which also got doubles from Jacob Gick and Danny Sperling. Clark Morgan allowed 2 earned runs and struck out five in 5 innings to earn the win.
