Softball: Jacobs notches win in Tennessee

Sarah Lynch had 2 hits with a triple and an RBI Tuesday to lead the Jacobs softball team to a 9-1 win over Independence (TN) on the Golden Eagles' spring trip to Tennessee.

Adding to Jacobs' 13-hit attack were Delaney Garden (2 hits), Kerri Healy (2 hits, RBI), Savannah Svedman (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Katie Armstrong (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI).

Svedman, the winner, and Armstrong combined on a 5-hitter in the circle.

St. Charles East sweeps: The Saints (5-1) pounded out 36 hits and scored 30 runs, sweeping a doubleheader from Wheaton North 17-13 and 13-3. In the first game, Sara Campagna had 3 hits and 5 RBI while Lauren Luna added 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI, Hannah Cozzi 3 hits and 2 RBI, Maddie Stout 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Krista Sbarra 3 hits with a double, Alex Wooten 2 hits with a double and an RBI, Elliott Sanders a double and winning pitcher Katie Arrambide a double. In Game 2 Cozzi had 3 hits with 2 homers and 5 RBI. Stout added 2 hits and 3 RBI, Sbarra a triple and an RBI and Sanders 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI. Madelyn Rouse earned the win in the circle, allowing just 1 hit.

Mars Hill Bible (AL) 4, Hampshire 3: Sarah Bowen had a triple, 2 doubles and an RBI and Jasmine Lopez 2 hits with a home run for the Whip-Purs (2-2). Miki Snider added a double.

Lawrence County (AL) 7, Dundee-Crown 1: Cady English had 2 hits including a home run and Deanna Origer added 2 hits for D-C (2-4).

Kaneland 9, Green (OH) 3: Natalie Kraemer had 3 hits while Hailey Roach, Hannah Theobald and Olivia Ortegel each had RBI for Kaneland (3-0). Emilee Erickson had 9 strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
