Softball: St. Viator drops season opener in Peoria

St. Viator's softball team played it season opener in Peoria on Friday.

Going up against the host school in the Peoria Notre Dame tourney, the Lions fell 15-1 in five innings.

With her team trailing 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning, freshman Marissa Zaron produced her first varsity hit, which drove in the Lions' first run of the season.

However, Notre Dame scored 13 runs to take charge in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lions will face Rock Island Alleman at 11 a.m. on Saturday followed by a 1 p.m. game against Benet Academy.
