Peoria Richwoods wins 3A title over Nazareth

Peoria Richwoods outscored Nazareth 18-5 in the fourth quarter and won the Class 3A girls basketball state championship game 55-46 Saturday at Redbird Arena in Normal.

It was the fourth state title for the Knights (35-1) and first since they won the 3A crown in 2009.

Kourtney Crane led the way for Richwoods with 19 points while Jaida McCloud (17 rebounds), Camryn Taylor and Tianna Johnson scored 11 each.

Alyssa Geary led Nazareth with 18 points and 12 blocked shots, which broke the all-time title game record for blocks set by Naperville Central's Candace Parker, who had 8 blocks in the 2004 Class AA championship game.

Annie Stritzel added 17 points for the Roadrunners.

Nazareth, making its first appearance in a state final tournament, finished the season 31-3.
