Elk Grove High School has named Mike Nauert the school's boys water polo coach.

Nauert comes to Elk Grove with a wide range of water polo experience. He played high school water polo at Wheeling and later competed for the Northern Illinois University Water Polo club team.

He also has coached several local high school-aged off-season programs.

Coach Nauert is looking forward to take the lead of a program that made some really nice progress under former coach Keith Kura.

"I am extremely excited to be joining the Elk Grove High School athletics staff," Nauert said. "Being able to come back to District 214, being a former student at Wheeling High School, has been one of my goals. I am looking forward to starting the season and seeing what goals we can achieve this year."

Boys water polo began the season this week and coach Nauert is impressed with not only the talent but the level of maturity of his players.

"Our program will stand for drive, determination and defense. I hope to develop these great athletes into positive role models for the community and the school."
