Lake Park wins again

Just another quality victory for Lake Park this season.

The Lancers continued to show they are for real with a solid 57-46 victory against a good Oak Park-River Forest team at the Benet/Naperville North Holiday Tournament. That followed a tournament win against Fremd, a Class 4A semifinalist the past two seasons.

"It's funny because we're 9-2," Lake Park coach Brian Rupp said. "We get that we're 9-2, but it doesn't feel like we're 9-2. It just feels like we're unsatisfied, really. ...

"It's awesome. We feel good about what we're doing. I think we believe in each other. I think we have a number of people that can pick someone up if someone's not playing well. That's one of our strengths right now. We talked about it preseason, we spread things out. Anyone can score for us. It's a nice luxury to have right now."

The Lancers had four players score in double digits: sophomore Darrione Rogers scored 17, Kinsey Tweedy had 13 points, Daina Riser 11 and Carson Vance had 10. Riser also grabbed 17 rebounds.

"She wants to be a double-double girl," Rupp said about Riser. "She wants it. When you have someone who's drive like that, I mean, all she does is fight for stuff. She does all our dirty work for us. It's fun to see her do that for us."

The Lancers led 22-8 after one quarter.

"We kind of set the tone right off the bat, then they kind of played us even in the second half," Rupp said.
