Kane County Cougars hire Blake Lalli as their manager

After finishing his MLB playing career in 2016, Blake Lalli is returning to the game to manage the Kane County Cougars in 2018.

The rookie manager, who played briefly for the Cubs, Brewers and Braves as a first baseman and catcher, becomes the 19th manager in Cougars history.

The Cougars, a Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, also announced their field staff for the 2018 season, which opens April 5 in Geneva.

Lalli's staff will include pitching coach and Elgin native Rich Sauveur, hitting coach Rick Short, coach Jorge Cortes, athletic trainer Kelly Boyce, and strength and conditioning coordinator Scott Shipman.
