Girls volleyball: Hampshire moves on to regional final

Lucy Magnussen and Maggie Seagren had 8 kills each Tuesday night as Hampshire's girls volleyball team defeated Machesney Park Harlem 24-26, 25-21, 25-19 in the semifinals of the Class 4A Hampshire regional.

Sophie Holtz added 13 assists and Abby Dedina had 10 digs for the Whip-Purs, who will face Huntley Thursday night for the regional title.

Harvest Christian d. Cristo Rey St. Martin: Riley Boldog had 12 aces, Zoe Pawalek 6 aces and Kaitlin Murray 14 assists to lead the Lions to a 25-8, 25-6 win in the semifinals of the Class 2A Willows regional. Harvest (26-11) will play Woodlands Academy Thursday for the regional title.

Westminster Christian d. Alden-Hebron: Grace Bickford (7 kills, 4 aces), Mica Glanzer (7 kills), Sophia Hopkins (19 assists) and Kristen Mason (3 aces, 3 kills) led the Warriors (12-16) at the Class 1A Christian Liberty regional. Westminster will play the host school Thursday for the regional crown.

Naperville North d. West Aurora: The Blackhawks' season came to an end with a 25-21, 25-16 loss to Naperville North in the Class 4A Romeoville regional. Kendra Battle (5 kills 2 aces, 2 digs); Abbey Lieser (1 ace, 17 digs) and Kiara Mcpherson (1 kill, 11 assists) led West Aurora, which finished the season at 17-19.

Prairie Ridge d. CL South: At the Class 4A McHenry regional, Crystal Lake South's season ended with a 25-11, 25-10 loss. Jamie Maukle (13 digs), Aurora Nero (4 kills) and McKenzie Wilson (10 assists) led the Gators(16-17).
