Women's volleyball: Harper goes to 31-5

Put up another two victories for the No. 1 ranked team in NJCAA women's volleyball.

Harper's Hawks (31-5, 12-0 in the North Central Community College Conference) defeated the St. Ambrose University junior varsity 27-25, 19-25, 25-21, C25-12 on Saturday in Ogelsby as Ellie Burzlaff (23 kills), Sarah Udoni (13) and Marielle Lugo (6) led the attack set by Emily Uprich (50 assists).

Mackenzie Bush and Udoni each had 2 blocks while Breanna Cullen (25), Huprich (13) and Burzlaff (11) led in digs.

Coach Bob Vilsoet's Hawks also defeated Illinois Valley 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 with Udoni (11), Burzlaff (5) and Gabby Fugle (5) leading in kills.

Bush had 5.5 blocks and Huprich handed out 26 assists with 10 digs.

Harper will be seeded No. 1 the regional playoffs scheduled for Oct. 28 at Elgin (10 a.m. and 3 p.m.).
