Boys soccer: Milostan, Lakes deny Grayslake Central

Jeff Milostan scored with five minutes remaining, lifting Lakes' boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Grayslake Central in the Class 2A Lakes regional final Friday night.

Second-seeded Lakes advances to the Grayslake Central sectional and will play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against the winner of Saturday's Rockford Boylan regional final between Woodstock and Belvidere.

Lakes scored its first goal on an own goal.

Seb Hinestrosa had the lone goal for No. 3 Grayslake Central (12-7-2).

"We're gutted to have lost this one tonight," Rams coach Tom Hamilton said. "We played with real heart tonight and played some great soccer, but the game comes down to little moments sometimes, and tonight Lakes found a couple of those moments. We faced a lot of tests this year with injuries and illnesses, but I'm incredibly proud of the way everyone on this team stepped up when needed. I couldn't ask for a better group of young men in our program, and even though we're hurting right now, we can hold our heads high and know that we showed real quality and character this season, right up to the end."
