Girls volleyball: St. Charles East, Kaneland each win

Kyra Slavik had 9 kills and 6 digs while Hannah Spicer added 7 kills and 7 digs Thursday night to lead the St. Charles East girls volleyball team to a 25-18, 23-25, 25-21 nonconference win over DuPage Valley Conference champion Metea Valley.

Anna Skyrd added 9 digs for the Saints (28-7) while Charlie Ambrose (6 digs), Klaudia Sowizral (8 kills) and McKenna Slavik (22 assists, 5 digs) also contributed to the win.

Kaneland d. Yorkville: Katie Jablonski had 11 kills and 15 digs to help the Knights (27-7, 6-2) earn a 25-15, 22-25, 25-19 Northern Illinois Big 12 East win. Sheika Mushunduzi (7 kills), Shelby Hannula (7 kills, 16 assists), Sydney Fedderly (16 assists, 14 digs), Grace Franz (4 aces) and Julianna Vassallo (16 digs) also pitched in for Kaneland.

Jacobs d. Dundee-Crown: Tarrah Kamp had 10 kills and Irene Martin added 8 kills and 9 digs for Dundee-Crown in a 25-20, 21-25, 25-13 Fox Valley Conference loss. Also contributing for the Chargers (8-18, 1-15) were Jenna Thelen (7 kills), Jenna Brown (6 kills, 16 assists), Claire Muhvic (11 assists, 9 digs), Zoe Sitarz (21 digs) and Carolyn Ptaszek (8 digs).

Westminster Christian d. Hinckley-Big Rock: Grace Bickford (3 aces, 3 digs, 5 kills), Sophia Hopkins (7 assists, 3 digs, 2 aces) and Elise VanNoord (4 aces) led Westminster (11-16) to a 25-5, 25-17 nonconference win.

McHenry d. Hampshire: Maggie Seagren had 5 kills, Riley Seagren 4 kills and Abby Dedina 10 digs for Hampshire in a 25-14, 25-14 Fox Valley Conference loss.

Cary-Grove d. CL South: Aurora Nero (10 digs, 4 kills), Kleja Cernauskaite (4 kills, 4 blocks) and McKenzie Wilson (15 assists) led Crystal Lake South (13-13, 5-11) in a 25-17, 25-23 FVC loss.
