Girls volleyball: Schaumburg tops BG in two sets

Mid-Suburban West co-champion Schaumburg won the second-place Mid-Suburban League crossover match on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Buffalo Grove 25-21, 25-18.

Claire Ferriss led the Bison (14-12) with 12 kills while Nicole Langer added 4. Maggie Streckert handed out 18 assists while Riley Cross collected 11 digs.

Barrington d. Rolling Meadows: Host Barrington improved to 21-14 with a 25-15, 25-19 win in the MSL third-place crossover.

Peyton Tilly (6 kills, 2 aces), Bailey Madrzyk (5 kills, 1 ace), Andi Capel (4 kills, 3 aces, 5 digs), Kate Shechtman (3 kills, 5 blocks) and Paige Ramel (2 kills, 2 blocks) led the Fillies' attack.

Suzana Andrade de Oliveira (8 digs). Tara Kozak (12 assists) and Felicia Guagliardo (7 assists, 2 aces) set the offense while Suzana Andrade de Oliveira collected 8 digs.

Natalie Anderson (4 kills) and Natalie Klancnik (3 kills) led the offense for Meadows (14-21) while Klancnik (8 assists) and Mallory King (3 assists) set the offense. Macie Robinson had 10 digs.

Palatine d. Prospect: Host Palatine (25-10) won the MSL fourth-place crossover 25-11, 25-22.

Prospect (8-21) was led on attack by Grace Cacini (5 kills), Meghan Meredith (5 kills), Sloane Petlak (2) and Emma Cogan (2), who also had 2 aces.

Casey Acosta handed out 11 assists and Val Thomas collected 5 digs. Sarah Skaggs and Colleen Palczynski had 4 digs apiece.

Elk Grove d. Hoffman Estates: Rachel Kandefer put down 10 kills and Jessica Deering added a pair as visiting Elk Grove (4-25) posted a 25-19, 25-17 triumph over Hoffman Estates (0-22) in the MSL crossover.

Jalyssa Mercado (9 assists) and Lexi Chirbas (6) set the Grens' offense. Johanna Duckmann had 13 digs and Megan Murray 12.

Joliet Catholic d. St. Viator: Joliet Catholic posted a 25-13, 25-21 ESCC victory over the Lions (24-10, 2-5), who were led on attack by Catherine Hickey (9 kills), Kaylee Liberty (4), Kendall Claffey (4) and Kate Nottoli (3). Michaela Mueller was 75-of-77 setting with 19 assists.

Leyden d. Morton: Leyden won 21-25, 25-18, 26-24 as Destiny Corral (10 kills) and Kim Silva (7) led the attack for the Eagles.

Harper d. Madison: Harper won 25-15, 25-17, 14-25, 25-13 as Ellie Burzlaff (14 kills), Sarah Udoni (9) and Mar Lugo (8) and Bre Cullen (7) led the Hawks' attack. Udoni also had 3 blocks while setter Emily Huprich handed out 37 assists.
