Girls cross country: Vernon Hills wins title

For the second consecutive year, the Vernon Hills girls cross country team won the Central Suburban League North championship, beating out second-place Glenbrook North, 24-59.

Senior Lauren Katz of Vernon Hills took second place overall with an 18:52.80.

Freshman Natalie Sandlow of Glenbrook North placed first with an 18:48.90.

Boys cross country

Vernon HIlls takes fourth: At the Central Suburban League North meet, Vernon Hills placed fourth.

Evan Webber of Vernon Hills finished ninth with a 16:56.24 while Teddy Chen was one place shy (15th) of making all-conference with a 17:07.24.

Jose Reyes of Highland Park finished in first place with a 16:05.48.

Highland Park won the CSL North title over second-place Deerfield, 26-52.
