Girls golf: Aurora Central Catholic qualifies for sectional

Aurora Central Catholic's girls golf team shot a 422 Wednesday to finish second at the Class 1A Oregon regional and advance to next week's Stillman Valley sectional.

The Chargers were led by a 98 from sophomore Josephine Alm and a 99 from senior Kaitlyn Alicz. Junior Maggie Gaspardo shot 105 while juniors Holly Honnigford and Jennifer Jasin each had 120s to round out ACC's card.

Stillman Valley won the team championship with a 400 and Rochelle freshman Megan Thiravong was the individual medalist with an 86.

At Elgin Academy: St. Edward qualified two individuals and Elgin Academy one out of the Class 1A Elgin Academy regional at Golf Club of Illinois. Elgin Academy junior Neha Kama was the top individual qualifier with a 91. St. Edward senior Jordan Mattas (92) and classmate Katie Maloney (110) also qualified for next week's Stillman Valley sectional. Rockford Lutheran won the team title with a 327 and the Crusaders' Natalie Hooper was the medalist with a 78.
