Girls volleyball: St. Charles North clinches share of UEC River

The St. Charles North girls volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Upstate Eight River championship Tuesday night with a 25-18, 25-20 win over Batavia.

Leading the North Stars (18-3, 5-0) were Abby Graham (2 aces, 3 kills, and 13 digs), Amanda Parker (1 ace, 3 kills, and 7 assists), CJ Johnson (1 ace, 5 kills, and 7 assists), Katie Lanz (9 kills, 9 assists), Gigi Crescenzo (9 kills, 8 digs) and Lauren Caprini (2 aces and 12 digs).

Leaders for Batavia (14-12, 2-3) were Cordelia Smith (4 kills), Hannah Yaconis (5 blocks, 3 kills), Sam Juarez (9 digs), Jenna Garrett (8 digs, 2 aces), Melissa Kozak (3 blocks) and Becca Robinson (2 aces).

South Elgin d. Larkin: Amelia O'Neal and Hayley Fisher had 6 kills each and Casie Swanson added 12 assists as South Elgin (17-7, 3-1) won 25-5, 25-15 in UEC crossover action.

Faith Lutheran d. Westminster Christian: Grace Bickford (3 aces, 7 digs, 6 kills), Sophia Hopkins (20 assists, 2 kills, 2 digs), Sophie Kovachevich (10 digs) and Kristen Mason (1 ace, 5 kills, 4 digs, 3 assists) led Westminster (8-10, 2-6) in a 25-21, 18-25, 25-19 Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.
