President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress are jamming their agenda forward with a sense of urgency. They’re taking an unapologetically partisan approach to advance the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 rescue, voting rights and other priorities. Their calculation is that it’s better to try to push ahead than risk wasting time courting Republican support that may never come.

President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress are jamming their agenda forward with a sense of urgency, an unapologetically partisan approach based on the calculation that it's better to advance the giant COVID-19 rescue package and other priorities than waste time courting Republicans who may never compromise.

Top aides to Cuomo altered a state Health Department report to obscure the true number of people killed by COVID-19 in the state’s nursing homes, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times reported late Thursday. The aides, including DeRosa, pushed state health officials to edit the July report so only residents who died inside long-term care facilities, and not those who became ill there and later died at a hospital, were counted, the newspapers reported.

New York officials removed fuller tally of nursing home deaths

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's health department confirmed reports late Thursday that members of his COVID-19 task force altered a state Health Department report to omit the full number of nursing home patients killed by the coronavirus, but insisted the changes were made because of concerns about the data's accuracy.

A jet crosses the path of a sun pillar seen from the parking lot of Glenbrook North High School Saturday. Sun pillars happen when a strong light source, in this case it is the setting sun, reflects off tiny ice crystals suspended in the air. The bitter cold and bright sun were the perfect conditions that day. This sun pillar lasted less than 10 minutes and got stronger as the sun went lower.
Spectacular sunset in Northbrook
Brian Kotowski, of Palatine uses his snowblower to dig out from an overnight snowstorm that once again hit the suburbs, “The first couple of times were all right, now I don’t like it,” Kotowski mentioned as he took a break during his snow removal duties on Tuesday morning.
Suburbanites were digging out of more snow Tuesday and Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation for the entire state.
