No injuries after driver shoots at another vehicle in Highland Park

A person fired shots at another vehicle Aug. 15 in what police termed a driving dispute in Highland Park.

No one was injured in the shooting Monday afternoon around Skokie Valley Road and Central Avenue. Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident with no further danger.

Highland Park Police responded at about 2:13 p.m. Aug. 15 to a report of a gunshot being fired. A preliminary investigation found that a person had been heading southbound near the 1600 block of Skokie Valley Road when a person in another car fired two rounds in his direction, police said.

One round hit the person's car, then the suspect vehicle drove off on Skokie Valley Road to eastbound Central Avenue.

Police were unable to find the fleeing vehicle, described as a silver or white, four-door sedan with dark, tinted windows and damage to the rear door on the driver's side.

The man who fired the gun was described as a Black male in his mid- to late-20s wearing a dark bandanna head covering, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to contact Highland Park Police Sgt. Sean Curran at (847) 926-1119 or scurran@cityhpil.com.
