Special brush collection scheduled for Naperville neighborhoods affected by tornado

In response to the damage caused by Saturday's EF-0 tornado, Naperville officials have scheduled special brush collections for the hardest-hit areas.

Residents living within the collection boundary, which can be found at naperville.il.us/yardwaste, should place brush and tree debris on the parkway in front of their property by Tuesday morning or as soon as possible so crews making multiple passes can complete their collections.

Residents in the designated area do not need to cut, bag or tie the debris.

The collections will end on Friday. After that, any remaining debris on private property will have to be removed through the city's weekly yard waste program or privately contracted companies.

If a parkway tree on public property anywhere in the city was damaged during the weekend storms, residents are asked to contact the public works department at (630) 420-6095 or submit a service request online. Crews will respond in the coming days and weeks.

The National Weather Service reported the EF-0 tornado touched down near the intersection of 95th Street and Route 59 and reached a maximum wind speed of about 80 mph.
