Police dog tracks down Lindenhurst school burglary suspects

A police dog tracked down a group of burglars who broke into a school in Lindenhurst, according to the Lake County sheriff's office.

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to reports of a break in at B.J. Hooper School.

Among the responders was Lake County sheriff's office dog Dax.

Responding officers saw multiple people leaving the school. Authorities said the group caused serious damage to the school and a bulldozer parked outside the building.

Led by Dax's tracking, police pursued the individuals to a home 1½ miles away.

Three suspects were arrested at the home, while two others were arrested near the school.
