Q&A

Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

I have observed areas of disconnect with law enforcement and the community it services. As your sheriff I will bring new and innovative ideas that will correct some vary glaring issues within the Sheriff's Office, and the Lake County communities.

If you are an incumbent, describe two important initiatives you've led. If you're not an incumbent, describe two ways you would contribute to the position.

As Sheriff of Lake County there is specific programming that I would implement that would address issues of transparency and trust within the office, and the community. I will create training opportunities for both community, Corrections, and Highway patrol.

Are there enough deputies on the street and are they properly deployed? What changes would you make?

The attrition rate at the sheriff's office is steadily on the incline and occurring at an alarming rate. As your sheriff I will create a positive and supportive climate, so we can retain and properly utilize the skill sets of our many bright stars.

What role should the sheriff's department play in dealing with the county's opioid crisis?

The opioid crisis is a major concern here in Lake County. I believe the Sheriff's Office should take a collaborative role and meet with the various municipalities throughout Lake County about this epidemic. We have to stop working in silos. This is not an issue just affecting one city it is a nationwide epidemic and I believe that it will take everyone to overcome it.
