Roselle house fire causes $125,000 in damage

A late-night fire at a home on the 400 block of Locust Lane in Roselle Monday caused an estimated $125,000 in damage, but no injuries were reported.

Roselle Fire Department officials said firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home just before 11 p.m. after residents dialed 911 to report the blaze.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered fire showing from the rear of the home near a flood light attached near the roofline.

It took firefighters roughly 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze that had extended into the home's attic space, but firefighters remained on scene for more than two hours performing salvage operations and checking for hot spots, officials said.

Two rooms were deemed uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
