ECC alum appointed to fill trustee vacancy

An Elgin Community College alum has been tapped to fill a trustee vacancy on the college's board.

The District 509 board recently appointed Sergio Rodriguez to fill the seat vacated by Jeffrey Meyer, who resigned in December. Rodriguez will serve Meyer's term until the next consolidated election on April 4, 2023.

"A veteran and distinguished ECC alumnus, Mr. Rodriguez is also a member of the Elgin Community College Foundation Board," said Jennifer Rakow, ECC board chairwoman, in a release. "Mr. Rodriguez's strong business acumen and deep ties to ECC and the broader community make him an excellent addition to the District 509 board of trustees."

Rodriguez, of Pingree Grove, is vice president of information technology and marketing for KCT Credit Union in Elgin. He began his career at the credit union in 2003 as a systems administrator after serving four years in the Marine Corps. He took on the VP role in 2015.

Rodriguez received an associate of arts degree in business and managerial economics from ECC in 2010. He is board president for Centro de InformaciĆ³n, a nonprofit social services agency serving the Hispanic community in the Northwest suburbs.

"I am honored and privileged to be appointed to the ECC board of trustees," Rodriguez said in the release. "I look forward to working with the trustees and ECC President Dr. Sam to continue to serve our diverse communities. Elgin Community College is an amazing educational institution and an important asset to our communities."
