Barrington seeks residents to serve on committees

The village of Barrington is looking for residents interested in volunteering to serve their community on the architectural review commission or the bike and pedestrian committee.

The architectural review commission makes recommendations regarding the exterior appearance of new commercial and multifamily construction. It also functions as the historic review commission for projects within the village's Historic Overlay District. Commission members serve three-year terms and generally meet twice a month.

The bike and pedestrian advisory committee makes recommendations on the implementation of the village's comprehensive bikeway and pedestrian plan, including the prioritization of capital projects. The committee also assists in promoting a safe and fun bicycle experience in and around the village through drafting of education and safety communications and the facilitation of the annual "Bike, Walk Barrington" event in early summer. Members serve three-year terms and meet quarterly, or as needed.

Interested residents can send a resume to Melanie Marcordes at mmarcordes@barrington-il.gov.
