Starting this weekend, the DuPage County mass testing site at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park will be open on Saturdays.

The county's drive-through testing center now operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, or until testing capacity is reached. Beginning this Saturday, the site also will offer testing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The expanded hours come amid rising COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions. As of Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 17,063 COVID-19 cases in DuPage over the last week, an increase of 66% from the previous seven-day period. DuPage also saw 444 new hospital admissions related to COVID-19 illness.

People don't need an appointment, doctor referral or insurance to receive a free test. All nasal swab tests are self-administered.

To help reduce wait times, people are encouraged to preregister before their visit at testdirectly.com. For more information, visit dupagehealth.org.
