Wheaton turns on new traffic signals downtown

New traffic signals are operating in downtown Wheaton as part of an ongoing streetscape project now in its fourth and final phase.

The city has switched on signals at the intersections of West Street and Liberty Drive; West Street and Front Street; Main Street and Liberty; and Main and Front.

The intersections were temporarily controlled by stop signs as the city's contractor, A Lamp, replaced the traffic signals on Liberty Drive.

The last stage of the downtown revitalization project targets the south side of the railroad tracks and includes a new canopy structure for the city's French market.
