Police: Two men injured in Elgin shooting

Elgin police are investigating after two men suffered apparent gunshot wounds early Wednesday morning.

Police say they responded to the 500 block of Columbia Avenue about 5:45 a.m. While officers made their way to the scene, two en with what appeared to be gunshot wounds arrived at a hospital for treatment of what police characterized as "nonlife-threatening injuries."

Officers at the scene on Columbia Avenue located evidence of gunfire and property damage, police said.

Detectives from the Major Investigations and Special Investigation Divisions are investigating.
