DuPage County child passenger safety campaign will start Friday

The DuPage County sheriff's office will participate in National Child Passenger Safety Week from Sept. 19-25, with increased enforcement of child passenger safety laws Friday through the end of September.

The office encourages parents and other caregivers to make sure children are riding in appropriate car seats for their age and size, and that they are properly installed. Proper installation is also key to making sure the seats are effective in protecting children, officials said.

The campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
